Marlton Chiefs Boys’ Basketball Team
The Marlton recreation council’s sixth-grade Chiefs “A” basketball team (pictured) went 19-0 this season, beating the Delran Bears in the South Jersey boys’ sixth-grade league championship.

Mount Laurel Red Raiders Travel Basketball Team
The Mount Laurel Red Raiders fifth-grade travel basketball team won the South Jersey Basketball League fifth-grade championship, beating Medford 43-32. The team went undefeated all season.

Mount Laurel Girls’ Basketball Team
Led by Coach Gallagher, the Mount Laurel fifth-and sixth-grade girls’ basketball team went 13-0 this season, beating Team Peditto in the league championship 20-13.

Shawnee High School Boys’ Basketball
The Shawnee High School boys’ basketball team beat top-seeded Williamstown 53-51, winning the South Jersey Group 4 championship. Shawnee ended its season with a record of 19-11 and has been in the South Jersey championship 14 out of the last 20 years, winning 10 of them.

Haddonfield Bulldawgs Boys’ Travel Basketball Team
The Haddonfield Bulldawgs fourth-grade basketball team beat Barrington in the Camden County Basketball League championship, ending the season with a record of 13-1. The only loss during the regular season was to Haddon Township in overtime. The team replayed Haddon Township in the playoff semifinal game and won.

Moorestown Friends School Consumer Bowl Team
The Moorestown Friends Consumer Bowl team entered for the first time into the Burlington County Consumer Bowl and took first place. Drawing teams from 13 high schools, the competition consisted of questions regarding consumer issues.

Eastern High School Gifted and Talented Model United Nations Team
The Eastern High School Gifted and Talented Program’s Model United Nations team won Best Large Delegation at the Johns Hopkins Model United Nations Conference. Individually, team members won an additional 17 awards, along with placing first out of 78 schools.

Cherry Hill High School West Girls’ Swimming Team
The Cherry Hill West girls’ swimming team went 14-1 this season, winning the South Jersey Public B swimming championship against Haddonfield. The team’s last sectional crown was in Public A in 2007.

Beck Middle School Science Olympiad Team
The Beck Middle School Science Olympiad Team came in sixth in the state competition. Competing against 26 other teams in New Jersey, the team earned several individual medals.

Haddonfield Bulldawgs Girls’ Travel Basketball Team
The Haddonfield Bulldawgs fifth- and sixth-grade girls’ basketball team defeated Washington Township 42-34 in the Inter- County Basketball League Junior A Division championship. The Bulldawgs ended their season 18-1.

Flyers Youth Pee Wee “A” Team
The Flyers Youth Pee Wee “A” team, which consists of mostly sixth-grade Haddonfield Middle School students, took home the crown at the “Battle of the Hill” tournament in Pennsylvania. The team won the championship game by a score of 7-0.

Bells Elementary School Chess Team
After participating in nationally ranked tournaments in Pennsylvania in the last three months, four teams of students competed in the finals of the Silver Knights Tournament. Team A, consisting of Jeffrey Ferraino, Brian Campana, Nathan D’Alfonso and Andrew Silver, was the highest-placing public school team in the tournament and placed fourth overall. The league is made up of students from kindergarten through eighth grade from private and public schools in the Delaware Valley.
